Raven’s Cry (1966) – Christie Harris.

Excellent historical and cultural introduction to Haida Gwaii. Harris is not Haida, however she felt passionately about documenting at least some of the Haida family stories that were in jeopardy of being lost. The story is narrative from the perspective of the Haida, and she worked with many people’s direction and input, including Bill Reid. Easy to read and a must before coming to the islands.
