Holy Cow: An Indian Adventure – by Sarah MacDonald
Before our big move North, Jay and I had been planning a spicy little adventure to India, and while it is on the back-burner, I enjoyed this little gem of a travel novel (a gift from my pal Blakie ~ thanks honey!). MacDonald’s writing style, which reminds me of Elizabeth Gilbert’s humourous approach to story telling, revolves around her personal introspection while immersed in a (very!) foreign culture and her cynical search for spirituality. Quick quips, playful use of alliteration and vivid descriptions make this an easy peasy read. Definitely worth it for those who have been to, or plan to go to India – especially if interested in the spiritual adventure path!
